I met Sofi at an event back in 2014. I complimented her look and she obliged - then stated something like...that's what I'm talking about women supporting women. I said "oh yes, I'm totally a girls - girl... no hate LOL !" This was way before we started our blog. I knew I was going to create a cool platform for women, just didn't know what. However, what I did know from that interaction - is that she was the kind of girl that I liked ; fast forward 3 years later not only has she extended her title from VH1 host to Reality Show personality, she also has a great single out. We caught up with her to chat about it all.
Style: How did you get started in the entertainment industry?
Sofi: I wrote a few songs with my cousin, Dominique. What we created caught the attention of these dope producers in Atlanta. I eventually moved there to record a project, shortly after I was offered a deal in NYC - Short version of hard work.
Style: What would you being doing if, you weren't in entertainment?
Sofi: I think that I would be a great personal trainer/nutritionist.
Sofi: Before being cast on reality TV - what was your opinion of it? Has that changed since becoming a member of LHHNY?
I thought reality TV was simply just shooting and storylines. It's not. It's a lot of time consuming work. We shoot for over 6 months. I also felt that people were crazy for exposing their love lives. LOL! I still think that. However, everything is so exposed now with social media, it's just smart to get paid for it; if you are going to share.
Style: Can we expect any surprises from you in the new season?
Sofi: You will have to stay tuned. I will be offering up a little more for sure.
Style: What does being an "It" Girl mean to you?
Sofi: Being an "It" Girl to me is living unapologetic. Relentlessly going after your dreams and smashing your goals. We don't see limits - no glass ceilings. "It" GIRL's have an authentic quality about them that can never be explained, or copied. We are the trailblazers.
Style: What is your "It" factor?
Sofi: I am soft and feminine...yet fearless. My style is classic never trendy, therefore I'm always in style. Always myself.
Style: What are you "It" Fashion items for S/S/17?
Sofi: I am definitely feeling head scarves and crop tops. I also have an eye on the neutral tone Alaïa suede sandal and a blush toned jacket.
Style: Which Sex & the City girl do you identify with-Samantha, Carrie, Miranda, Charoltte?
Sofi: Carrie, mixed with Sam's independent & career driven nature.
Style: Who is your Iconic "It" Girl of all time?
Sofi: J.Lo! She always gives, sexy & feminine looks.
Style: What advice can you give to aspiring talent wanting to break into the industry. I would say to be strong and get prepared to sacrifice. It is going to require all you have to get yourself out there. It's a daily grind; no one is going to grind for your dreams except you.
Thank you Sofi, It is always a pleasure.
