It was a pretty easy decision choosing Marlo Hampton as our "It" girl of the year. When we decided to do interviews, Marlo was the first person that came to mind. Ironically, a few months later a friend invited me to a dinner and I ended up seated directly across from her ( with a little seat swapping). But, at that time the blog was super new and I wasn't sure she would be opened to it, so I dismissed it for a while.
People used to call it having juice. These days they call it being the plug. We simply call in having power. Ericka Pittman VP of Comb's Enterprises Chairman's Office and Sean "Diddy" Combs's right hand, definitely has the power. We had the absolute pleasure of interviewing this unapologetic business woman. She gave us some great insight on being a female executive and her women's movement.
You may remember Crystal Streets as a cast member on the Reality TV show House of Glam. A show about the day in the life of a Fashion Stylist, which was featured on the Oxygen network in 2010. Well prior to her appearance on the show Crystal had been a busy lady. Building her career in fashion brick by brick.
I started MM 5 1/2 years ago. I have always had an entrepreneurial spirit and wanted to have my own business. I didn't see the value in working for someone else making them rich with no growth for yourself. So I decided to create my own business and work for myself.
This past Saturday was a beautiful winter day in NYC. I was in attendance of a lovely brunch honoring women in entertainment and lifestyle, curated by Ciroc brand liqueurs. The Honorees were Marilyn Van Alstyne of EmVe Marketing and Mecca Moore of Pynk Magazine. Located at their Broadway suites. It was a perfect event for a Saturday. Attended by some verily influential people in Media and Marketing, mostly women which was refreshing and inspiring to see so many female executives and entrepreneurs mingling, networking and talking everything from business to fashion.
One of our goals with our blog "The Quest for IT" is to highlight women in the fashion industry that are on the rise. Those that have risen and those that keep goal setting and continuously raising the bar.
